The March meeting of the Stonecrest RC Flyers was held at the RC field on March 17th. The meeting was called to order by President Joe Meade at 3:00 PM. There were nine members present.
Old business concerning the lawn mowers and the mowing of the field was discussed first. The president had discussed with the mayor a lease on the flying field and another meeting is to be scheduled by the mayor in the future. We discussed the fact that the FAA numbers will have to be displayed on the outside of all flying aircraft.
Under new business, a motion was made by Joe Meade and seconded by Keith Blackburn that anyone under the age of 18 could have free membership as long as they are accompanied at the field by an active member and they have obtained an AMA number. The bylaws will be changed to include this item. The membership unanimously agreed.
The next item discussed was filling some holes in the field. It was agreed to try to get topsoil to repair the field. Joe Meade reminded everyone that they needed to maintain current AMA membership. It was agreed that all members be listed on “Whatsapp” so everyone can communicate with each other.
Curtis Branham is working with the Prestonsburg Ace Hardware for us to join their outdoor barbeque event to set up tables for displaying aircraft as part of a membership drive. Curt will let us know the date of this event as soon as it is determined.
The members unanimously agreed to purchase a new dx6 radio for use with the club’s trainer plane. Herb Winstead is making the purchase.
With no further business to discuss the meeting was adjourned by the President Joe Meade at 3:35 PM.
