Stonecrest RC Flyers had their monthly meeting, held at the Grace Way United Methodist Church because of rainy weather. Thanks to church members for the invitation to use their facilities.
The meeting was called to order by president Joe Meade at 3:10 P.M. and he asked for last month’s minutes which were read by Herb Winstead and a motion was made to approve by Pete Holbrook and seconded by Chris Holbrook, and accepted by members.
Old business was first subject that was discussed and was as follows: Curtis Branham is going to repair old mower and members volunteered to help if Curt would let them know when to work. Joe Meade is still waiting to meet with City Mayor about lease on club field. Herb Winstead went to 911 office and is trying to get address set for Google location also Herb called the VFW in Prestonsburg about donations as discussed last month.
New business was next topic and was as follows: Curt Branham would like to have free membership for any one under eighteen as long as accompanied by AMA members. He also talked to Food City at Prestonsburg about setting up a membership drive display at their store when weather breaks. The matter was tabled until more information could be gathered.
Roy Harlow asked if we could have dedicated events setup to invite different groups to the field to watch and learn. One group he pointed out was the people from the rehab next door. No decisions were made on this and will be discussed at later date.
Joe Meade talked about setting up radios for buddy boxing the clubs airplane. He said it was cumbersome and we needed some other way to setup. A new radio will be quoted for next meeting but was not voted on.
The members talked about the new regulations from the FAA that are going into effect on February 25, 2019 in regards to identification on all rc aircraft. All information can be found on faa.gov/uas and will also be posted on our website at a later date.
With no other business meeting was dismissed by Joe Meade at 4:00 PM.
After the meeting, the members of Grace Way United Methodist Church had a build session for small airplanes. Several members from the club stayed and cut out planes.
Many thanks to the church for the invitation for Stonecrest RC Flyers club members.
